The Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) is releasing false information about a dealership in Lisle, Illinois. The dealership, Bill Kay Chevrolet, says the recent press release on ISRA.org is, “fake news”.

In the press release, the ISRA claims Bill Kay is planning a car wash for June 16th to raise funds for a gun control group who will use the money to create legislation to ban and confiscate firearms from law-abiding citizens.

Richard Pearson, Executive Director of the ISRA says lots of second amendment supporters buy cars and trucks, and Bill Kay Chevrolet should rethink raising money for this cause., “The Bill Kay automotive group can bet that hunters, sportsmen, target shooters, and other gun-rights supporters will vote with their feet and take their business elsewhere if the auto dealer follows through with its planned gun-control fundraiser.  The ISRA will certainly let the state’s gun owners know that Bill Kay is not on their side – and we’ll remind them of that on a regular basis.”

Pearson ended the letter on this threatening note, “ Yes, Bill Kay will find that siding with gun control extremists is an expensive proposition.”

But DrivingSales reached out to Bill Kay Chevrolet on their Facebook page and got this response back, “This is fake news, we would never put the dealership on a particular side. We would like to stay neutral in all situations. We have no car wash scheduled we have never had one scheduled, as referenced.”

Bill Kay Chevrolet also responded publicly on their Facebook Page:

Recently, we became aware of an article informing the public of a car wash in support of a Naperville gun control group….

On the IRSA website, they claim to be Illinois leading advocate of safe, lawful, and responsible firearms ownership.  DrivingSales has asked the IRSA for a response back to their allegedly false press release, but hasn’t heard back.
